Fast start back

Primary 2b are back at school and ready to learn after their holiday.

Jack wanted to write that we have a new Jolly Phonics sound which is “old”. Some words which have this sound are: gold, sold, cold, bold, fold, told, older and old.

We have continued to learn about Fairtrade because we are all taking part in an assembly about it on Friday – which mums and dads can come too. We understand that if we buy Fairtrade the farmers who are growing those foods will get a fair price.

With Primary 2a the other day we carried on with some science lessons about water and ice to do with our safety topic. We learned that when water turns into ice it gets bigger and wider.

We had a special treat this morning when some people put on a show. We learned how we can use the sun, wind and steam instead of fuel to make electricity. We should also be making sure we turn off lights and tv’s, try to walk more and use bikes. Zaak was very clever and could tell everyone what a solar panel was.

Mrs Gibson is away to Malawi during the holiday to see her old link school and to try to find a link school for us to be friends with.  Lots of classes in the school have been making things for her to take either to help us make friends with pupils over there, introduce ourselves or show them a bit about Scotland.

With Mrs Gibson we made a number line to 20 and some tick/cross cards for answering questions and with Mrs McBeth we made up a story about the Gruffalo!  Mrs Ferguson and Mrs Milne have been laminating everything for us so that it does not get dirty out there.

Mrs Gibson gave a talk to the school a little while ago and showed us lots of photos from Malawi, it was really interesting.

We have no homework tonight as it is a house day tomorrow so we will not be in our own class all day.  It is about fairtrade.  We have to try and bring in packages that have the fairtrade label on them for our school display.

We are very pleased that we brought in the most tins for Harvest – 103 of them, and the school altogether brought in more than 700!

Mrs Gibson and Mrs McBeth wish everyone a happy holiday!  Check out the photos of our Malawi below.

Exciting week

We have been doing lots of things this week – especially today which was very exciting!  We have lots of photos to show you of these activities.  Mrs Gibson says it takes a long time to put the photos up individually on the blog so she has put them on a slideshow on Flikr which you can see below!  We are being as safe as we can online so there are no photos of us, just what we have been doing and some of our work.

In this slideshow is some of our phonics work, news writing, fire visit and our safety walk which was very exciting. We were walking along the canal to think about water safety and saw boat coming through so we got to see exactly how the locks work as it got taken through.  It was very exciting.  We also looked out for things on our walk that we needed to be careful of…and that showed us we need to pay attention even on the pavement when we are walking along.

Thank you

Hello from Primary 2 again! Thank you to all the mums and dads who have looked on the blog and left comments already.

We are excited about telling you all of the things we have been doing and Mrs Gibson has been taking photos of some of our work to put up soon.

This last week we have been learning:

how to do subtraction in maths. We have to remember to take away and not add on when we see this sign -!
for our topic on Safety we have been learning what to do if we have to phone 999. This was another reason why it’s good to know our address! We were in the house corner looking after a baby and Mrs Ferguson was helping us to pretend that something had happened to the baby and we had to phone 999.
In pairs we have been making posters to tell other people what to do if they have to phone 999.
In language we have been doing writing. We are still practising what makes a good sentences, our numbers and writing our full names.

We had our photographs taken yesterday and will be bringing them home today. For homework tonight we wrote that we are to practise adding to 10 – this is mentally with our mums and dads. And we are to try and remember to bring a tin for harvest!

Hello from Primary 2b

Hi everyone, this is the first time Primary 2b at Clydemuir Primary are writing on their blog. We have got some things to tell you that we have been learning!

- We are remembering how to write a sentence. It should have a caputal letter, finger spaces and a full stop. It also needs to make sense.

- We are learning how to count and write to 20.

- We have been reading and learning about non-fiction books.

- Our topic is about safety and we have been learning about keeping safe on the road and about stranger danger. We know about safer strangers and safer building. We drew pictures of safer strangers and built models of safer buildings.

Rememer our PE days are Wednesday and Friday!

Hello everyone!
